Deep Story thought of the day:

Language development of humans happened, at the LATEST, concurrently with man’s controlled use of fire. Fire extended the day, and became a gathering point for us. It was warm, and bright, and hypnotic. There was no hunting, no gathering at this time of night. No. This was a time for sharing. When we would tell stories of our far-flung exploits. Of successes and failures. Of dreams and legends.

Man’s control of fire happened over 500,000 years ago.

Written language began 5,000 years ago.

We’ve been writing stories for 5,000 years. But we’ve been telling stories for 100X as long. The history of our species has always been told through STORY.
